Growing up, some of my fondest memories were watching my parents enjoy their morning coffee together in our yard. There was something special about those moments—the way they would sip their coffee while soaking in the tranquility of the early morning in my mom's beautiful garden, while they have their talks about everything, yes, I was being nosey sometimes.

That's why I am a early riser now. It was a simple morning routine, yet it spoke volumes about their bond and the comfort coffee brings. Even when he got sick, he still got up early to iron my mothers work clothes and make sure she had everything she needed. Even yelling at her about stretching out his pants, lol he ALWAYS had the BEST clothes. what LEO doesn't though?

I was heartbroken, sitting there so sad, when suddenly, my dad found Dada and returned him to me. It was the happiest I’d ever been, and that moment made our zoo trips even more special.

We enjoyed our ice cream trips to Dairy Queen. My dad loved to treat us, and my baby sister Jovenna always got the butterscotch flavor, while I would go for chocolate and he would bring mom a banana split. Dairy Queen was our summer go-to, and on his lunch breaks, he would bring us "chicken snack packs" to enjoy together. Yes, you can see we loved Dairy Queen, and those simple pleasures created some of my sweetest memories with my dad.

After school, my dad would pick us up in his work truck, the scent of car oils, and cement still lingering in the air, at the time we were so embarrassed to hop in the work truck but now we see the beauty in it. The drive home was filled with stories of his day and our chatter about school, homework, snack stops, and dreams. It was a routine that grounded us and reminded us of the love and support that surrounded us.

From horseback riding to day trips to his hometown, my father always found ways to make our lives fun. He taught us to appreciate life, whether it was through a ride along the trails or exploring the countryside, or yelling “Walk Life you Got Life In Ya” to us lol.
